Louder Is Not Always Clearer tours UK and Europe

Jonny Cotsen, father, artist, performer and star of Louder Is Not Always Clearer is back with the company to pick up the tour that was interrupted by the pandemic.

Born deaf to hearing parents, Jonny did not identify as deaf until much later in his life. He struggles daily as a deaf man in a hearing world. Jonny worked with The Clarks to create a show that provides an insight into his life for D/deaf and hearing audiences alike.

From September 2021 Jonny and the Clarks will appear in venues across the UK and The Netherlands – see our Dates page for details of how to catch a performance of Louder near you.

We’ve had so much interest in this show…we were lining up shows across Europe and Brazil before the pandemic struck. This autumn we will be presenting across England and then heading to The Hague and Utrecht. We are really happy to still be part of the National Rural Touring Dance Initiative programme and are excited to be performing in Corsham and Broadwell . It’s going to be exciting to get back on the road.” – Gareth Clark

Booking is essential.

The show is accessible to D/deaf, hard of hearing and hearing audiences through the use of English, some British Sign language and creative captions

“A brilliant exercise in empathy as it allows a hearing audience to briefly experience the world as Cotsen sees and hears it”

 Lyn Gardner, Stage Door

“This unpretentiously charming show has been made for both him and us. It’s a story that needs telling, and it’s got a communal ending you’re not likely to forget.”

Fest – 4 Star Review – Donald Hutera

What’s On Stage – 4 Star Review – “It’s an impressive and thought-provoking effect of a delicate work, carefully constructed by the Welsh theatre company Mr & Mrs Clark”
